"I used the full moon as a key element in composition and lighting, while the islanders remained still for up to ten minutes. I work in large format, composing with the focus plane through people, vegetation, water and sky. At the same time, the use of long-time exposures with full moon, have allowed me to light part of the landscape artificially. I think my pictures as slides of unfinished stories, having a script on my head that is continuously changing by reality. I am interested in the poetical and visual power of the water, and the relationship of people and the environment. The intention of The Hight Tide project is to explore these islands using photography, and present another version of the Paran· River Delta and its community that has been photographically ignored throughout years."

CITIZENS OF DESPAIR The Rohingya, a Muslim minority population in Myanmar, have fled severe repression and persecution in their homeland and sought refuge in Bangladesh and other neighboring countries for more than 50 years. Sadly, few find the assistance they desperately need and instead are forced to survive in huge makeshift camps with little or no basic amenities, including food or water. The MSF clinic at Kutupalong, originally intended to deliver basic healthcare to children under five years old and to treat the high levels of global acute malnutrition in the camp, has become a haven for those exhausted by what is happening. In June 2009, an MSF team had to set up an emergency health intervention in the camp because the situation has spiraled out of control.

Rape - a Weapon of War 06 - Photo essay documenting survivors of sexual violence in the Democratic Republic of Congo. In the Democratic Republic of Congo as many as 500,000 women and children have been raped in acts of war. Sexual violence has become so widespread that the UN's Margot Wallstrom, described Congo as the "rape capital of the world". Medicins San Frontiers (Doctors without borders) says that over half of all the rape cases it deals with worldwide are in DRC. The UN now recognizes sexual violence used in armed conflict as a war crime. This will not stop the crime immediately, nor will it erase the physical and psychological damage suffered by those abused. Optimists say that it is a move in the right direction. Others believe that without concrete actions-steps taken to address the route cause of the conflict and lawlessness, rape will continue to be used as a weapon of war.

Coexistence #8 - Shot in Ethiopia, reflecting the coexistence of tribal cultures with roots stemming back centuries and modernisation/westernisation, a vast phenomenon that is spreading like wild fire in many developing countries. This is a long-term project that will continue to explore these themes.

The Common Part - I was looking for a strong contrast between the empty plates, the daily background on one side and the gaze, the intensity and the detachment of the subjects portrayed on the other side. The portraits are aimed to take us to the crossroads between two worlds: the privacy of an intimate ritual and the boundaries of an inner landscape.
